Budget boosts city work with $485,239 plan for Bonham

The Bonham City commission tentatively approved a $485,239 budget for the year starting April 1 with estimated revenues of $500,860. Marines Sweep Into Batangan Peninsula Under Heavy Fire

About 5,000 Allied troops stormed the Batangan peninsula in central Vietnam in a major amphibious operation led by U.S. Marines and South Vietnamese forces. 3,009 Marines came ashore by helicopter and landing craft while 2,000 infantrymen formed a cordon to trap retreating forces. A Scandinavian Airlines System DC8 crashed on approach to Los Angeles International Airport. Of 45 aboard, 30 survived with four bodies recovered and several others missing.
