Entrance Door Upgrade At First National Bank

The First National Bank is rearranging its front entrance for better convenience. The northeast corner will have double doors and a south side door on Matin street is removed for a regulation window. Porter Inelish to supervise the carpentry and stone work to enlarge the east opening.

G Hale who has stayed several days in Bonham visiting his son and family will leave Tuesday for his home at Ralls Texas. Hale formerly lived in this county and has spent 13 years in West Texas in the real estate business. He visited Hill and McLennan counties Sunday where he farms interests.

R J Kennedy and C M Hammond of the Dallas based Home Owners Loran Corporation visited Bonham on Monday for business. Kennedy formerly lived in Whitesboro and worked as a railway mail clerk on a T and P route through Bonham, while Hammond previously worked with the Texas Weekly in Dallas. Both men are well acquainted locally.

Death of 13 year old Dora Oleta Hardy in Bonham

Dora Oleta Hardy age 13 daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Lindsey of Bonham Route 1 died Sunday evening at 6 45 at Allen Hospital after a brief illness. She was born December 24 1925 in Fannin County and lived in the area all her life. Survivors include her parents grandparents Charlies and William Lindsey Louise and Wanda Bess Lindsey and two brothers. Funeral services scheduled this afternoon at 2 90 at Bailey Methodist church by Revs Combs and MacCollum. Interment in Moore's Chapel Cemetery. Wise Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Denton College Wins Top Honors at Fort Worth Meet

North Texas State Teachers College at Denton captured four first places to win top honors at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association convention closing at Texas Western College. Paris Junior College publications The Bat and The Galleon won first in newspaper and annual in the Junior class. The Bat's editor Walter Bell is the younger brother of Rayburn Bell who edited the 1935 Bat. The Galleon 1938 editors included Thurman Windham and Charles Vorholzer with Philip Latimer as business manager. East Texas State College's The East Texan won a feature story award.

Congressional Probe to Review Fascist Communist Nazi Activity

Congressman Martin Idtes of Orange, head of the House un American Activities Committee, will analyze fascist communist and Nazi activity in the country. His remarks were broadcast coast to coast from 11 to 11 25 a m on NBC. Freight rate discussion in East Texas will cover economic issues including forestry livestock taxation and iron ore deposits development. Ernest O Thompson of the Texas Railroad Commission will discuss alleged freight rate inequalities while Uphill Freight Rates is also on the agenda. The regional chamber plans an in depth study of Texas rate structures and future activities.
