New Books Placed In Bonham Public Library

Five contemporary novels have been purchased for Bonham Public Library per Library Board member Eugene Risser. The titles include Disputed Passage by Hloyd Douglas Serpent in the Garden by Ethel Dell The Young Hunter The Young Forestepits by Zane Grey And Tell of Time by Laura Kreay and Heaven Too by Zach Field Rebecca by Daphne du Maris and The Great American Novel will be added Monday. Bonham residents are urged to read these novels at the library's low rate, with Mrs Herbert Emery and Mrs Nunnelee Smith's favorable reviews mentioned.

Thursday Bridge Club Meets With The Eugene Rissers

The Thursday Evening Bridge Club hosted by Mr and Mrs Eugene Risser at their home featured five tables of players. Mrs John Rodgers won high score for the ladies while Alban Mee Rae led the men. After bridge, guests played bingo with a bowl of homemade candy as a prize at each table.

Notable American tour by visiting cleric in 1936

In October and November 1936 a prominent cleric traveled from the Atlantic to the Pacific visiting twelve of sixteen American ecclesiastical provinces. He received honorary degrees from many institutions including Notre Dame and Fordham, met four American cardinals, and dined with President Roosevelt. Returning to Vatican City, he gave a three and a half column interview praising U S religious development.

Four crime victims identified Dale B. Saunders, 31, in a police showup as the man who robbed them. Saunders, formerly a police officer, was described by witnesses in Detroit.

Detroit negligent homicide hearing ends in mistrial

In Detroit circuit court a mistrial was declared in a negligent homicide case after defense attorney LeRoy W Belangier alleged the jury foreman was intoxicated. Foreman Harry E. Bliss admitted drinking a glass of beer to "get rid of a touch of fin" before deliberations.
