Officials Take Oath in County Administrative Swearing In
In a morning ceremony two new county officials Manuel Brent tax assessor collector and Albert L Bartley Jr county attorney took the oath of office as part of a broader swearing in of county officers for the new term. John Kent and Jim Moulton also began first terms with Moulton filling a temporary vacancy and Kent serving as county commissioner. The commissioners court approved bonds and fixed meetings through January 8 with several incumbents re elected including Sheriff D Anderson County Judge Choice Moore County Clerk Thelbert Wingate and District Clerk Wyatt McMurry. Precinct officers across all districts were sworn in including Kent and multiple constables ward officials and public weighers.

Three of Nine Prison Escapees Recaptured in Texas
Three of nine escapees from Ramsey Prison Farm in Brazoria county were recaptured. Don Moffitt, an off duty policeman, captured Robert Cannon of Houston and Douglas Fairbanks Bryan of Brazoria. A night watchman in Alvin, Texas, nabbed O. B. Brashear. The convoy was in a reported stolen 1950 Buick. Other fugitives include Maynard Hollandsworth, L. Combs, and Thomas Richmond with various burglary sentences.
