He enlisted after graduating from Trenton High in 1966 and trained at San Diego and Camp Pendleton. He is survived by his parents two brothers a sister and a half brother. His funeral and burial will be held in Burns Cemetery once body arrival is confirmed.

John W. Sterling 82 of 229 Evans Avenue, a former sheriff, railroad employee and Bonham city judge, died Friday February 9 1968 in Houston. Services set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Wise Funeral Chapel with Rev. W H Cheatham and Rev. John R Black officiating. Interment in Willow Wild cemetery. Born September 12 1885 at Dodd City he was raised by Dr and Mrs Vanney. He married Jennie Yowell in 1915. she died December 16 1967. He worked for Y&N B railroad, then served as deputy sheriff and Bonham corporation court judge before retiring for health reasons. Survivors include nieces nephews and cousins including Dorothy Vanney Johnson of Dodd City.
