Bonham Lions club and Boy Scouts will organize the city wide used clothing drive Sunday afternoon February 16 from 2 to 4. Volunteers will collect, sort, and classify garments for emergency relief, aided by local groups, churches, and home demonstration clubs.

Ivanhoe Man Killed Walking Across FM 273
Bill Bingham 75 of Ivanhoe died Thursday night after being struck by a pickup while crossing FM 273 on his way home from a store. Gerome Weaver Gossett 17 of Sam Rayburn High School was driving, police reported, and the body was carried 190 feet on the truck’s hood. Smith Sees Tax Increase As Possible
Governor Pres ton Smith told the Texas Drive-In Theatre Owners convention that his upcoming budget message to the legislature will likely include a tax increase. He cited higher teacher salaries and welfare programs as drivers, and suggested a broad base sales tax if expenditures reach 150 to 200 million dollars. Boy Mauled by Escaped Lion in Texas Suburb
In La Marque Texas a 2 year old boy was mauled by an escaped lion while playing outside his home. The child, son of Mr and Mrs Glenn Totter, sustained multiple lacerations and a punctured lung and underwent surgery at Galveston County Hospital.
