Mrs George Emory is visiting relatives in Texarkana. The brief social note records her travel and current location, with no additional events or details.
Joe Denton returns from Kerrville where he visited his wife and hunted deer and duck. Mrs Joe W Carraway of San Antonio visits Bonham with Mrs George Jones. Mrs Carraway is remembered by Bonham friends as former Miss Wile Ingram.
Jack Lee Sr. traveled to Paris to attend a Friday evening meeting at the Gibraltar Hotel.
In a high scoring affair Sulphur Springs Wildcats toppled Bonham 32 to 9 as they surged in the second half. Standouts for Sulphur Springs included Jim Wright Red Clifton L Campbell G Campbell and Tom Ramey while Bonham’s Vernon Neal Clyde Jal Olen Bethel and Pete Stevens showed well on defense. The game featured multiple fumbles and penalties with Bonham finishing the season next Thursday vs Honey Grove at 2:30 PM.
Mrs Koehler hosted a Friday afternoon tea at 803 North Main in Bonham to honor Mrs Egon Korhier of Tulsa. Hosts Mrs J C Carleton and Miss May Carleton greeted guests from 3 to 5 pm, with a line of attendees including out of town visitors Mrs Grace Dupree Ridings Sherman, Miss Jennie Jackson Denison, Mrs Hunter Chicago, and Mrs Will Evans Sherman. Chrysanthums adorned the Carleton home as Mia Koehler, visiting Bonham, enjoyed refreshments and friendly calls.
Miss Mary Katherine Williams and Miss Dorothy Saunders hosted a kitchen shower Friday evening at Miss Saunders home honoring bride-elect Miss Marieanne Shelton of McKee Creek. Autumn decor and a horn of plenty centerpiece featured gifts. Miss Shelton won high in bridge with Miss Jean Marr taking low. Refreshments of coffee salted pecans sandwiches cookies and olives were served to a list including Mrs Will Shelton and many guests.
Ector High School teams prevail in three contests against Dodd City with girls 18 to 10 and boys 26 to 12. Doris Lane scores 14 for the girls, Sells nets 12 for the boys, while B team falls 9 to 14 with Smith leading Ector. Ringers lose to Whitewright Independents 34 to 26 as Smith scores 18 for Ector and Comer 33 for Whitewright.
Seventh and Star Methodist Church announces Sunday services with Pastor Grady May at 10:50 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. Sermons cover God balances ups and downs and The Black Horse. Young People meetings, Wesley Class guests, and Women’s Missionary Society circle gatherings scheduled. Weekday rehearsals, prayer service, and a Friday young people party planned.

The Sunday service at 1000 am features the Thanksgiving Program Committee with Mesdames Creekmore Baker and Mass Ray Anna Dielman presenting a program on Thanksgiving and missionary work in Alaska. The pastor will emphasize The Crowning of the Year and welcome new members KR Y Saker Ray Dielman and family Lilian Creekmoore and daughter Rena who joined by letter or confession of faith.

Members pledged cooperation for greater work in 140. They voted to send Miss Evelyn Glover to the BTU convention in Austin and donate $1 to Rev Donath missionary from Africa. They accepted Bailey WMS invitation to observe Lottie Moon week of Prayer and planned a Christmas program. A quilt was completed, bringing total quilts in the past month to ten. Meeting to be at the club house on Navy 29 to quilt two more.

Rivalry described as a bitter friendly clash likening local teams to Texas and Texas A and M amid civic pride in Bonham and Fannin county.
About 300 people attended the cake walk at the Allen's Point school house on Wednesday night November 22. The event, sponsored by the Allen's Point home demonstration club, featured popcorn prizes and music by the South of Honey Grove Tune Twisters led by Ross Whit A J Thompson Dug Jones Roy Lookdoo and Bill Thompson. Jack Humphrey provided the public address system. After expenses the ladies reported a net of 13 77.
State legislature debates removing the governor to force funding for old age pensions. Ragsdale proposes charges by the lower House while O'Daniel is suspended and Stevenson could call a special session. After a tax bill, charges would be dropped and O'Daniel could resume office.
Mr and Mrs C A Stewart hosted a Friday buffet at 619 E Ninth St with a lace cloth table and mum decor. Guests included Irby Carruth, Claude Leatherwood, Arledge Stewart, Roy Gass, Charles Leslie, Olvin Gross, Howard Bridge and the Littles, with bingo prizes awarded to Mrs Roy Gass and Mr Little.
Texas county judges and commissioners from across the state will gather at Texas A&M College for a four day conference December 4 to 7. Dean Gibb Gilchrist says about 400 officials are expected to attend to work with college specialists on local government problems.
Miss Mabel D Erwin head professor of clothing and textiles at Texas Technological College will address the home economics luncheon in San Antonio on December 1 as part of the Texas State Teachers association program.
Farmers across sections speak in favor of forming a soil conservation district. Speakers note free extension service support, voluntary participation, and no new taxes while stressing the need to curb wind and water erosion through improved soil practices.
County officials and farm leaders including J P Dawson Henry nout and Co F Cook voiced strong backing for soil conservation work at a public hearing. Local agents Edwards Young and Chaney urged adoption as Buckley noted the board would review testimony before deciding on district formation. Jim Roach urged farmers to adopt soil conservation as a state saver.
Theatre technicians and other skilled workers allied with Bioff's powerful union control projectionists in many cities. It remained unclear if all U.S. motion picture theaters would shut down as projectionists were being called out.
Bonham Fannin county BTU members will perform a short program on the southwest corner of the square at 4 30 pm Wednesday before leaving for Austin at 5 pm to attend the State BTU convention. Rev C P Sansom of Calvary Baptist Church announced the plan. Between 40 and 50 members from Bonham are expected to travel on a special chartered bus. The Bonds Band will perform before departure.
The Home Demonstration club met at Mrs G C Randolph’s home with Mrs Edwin Miller as co host. They planned a Christmas party for Dec 20 at Mrs Collie Hodges and had a refreshment gathering for members including Mrs Butts and others. On Nov 29 the Arledge Ridge club met at Miss Ester Lavender’s home and discussed giving an inexpensive Christmas gift and confirming 1939 officers for 1940.
Thursday evening in the Ivanhoe school auditorium Mr Kreps a brother of Mrs Parker a teacher at Ivanhoe school presented a picture program featuring scenes from the World’s Fair in New York and views from a Canadian Bermuda Islands trip.
