U S planes struck North Vietnam for the second time since the 37 day truce ended. In the South, U S and allied forces reported about 720 Viet Cong killed in Operation Masher near Bien Hoa.
The Daughters of the American Revolution sponsor American History Month with Mrs Bess Freeman as committee chair urging schools clubs and organizations to participate. DAR will present a program at the VA Centers as part of the observance and the feature continues with a regional military update on the Vietnam War noting operations Masher with casualty estimates and troop movements By contrast reports indicate limited combat activity and no major actions on the front.
The Wednesday night Mulberry Community Improvement Club meeting was canceled due to impending weather. Organizers will announce a new date shortly.

Beckworth, longtime representative of the district for 24 years, announces candidacy for Congress in the expanded Fourth District. He was born in Kaufman County and has served 26 years in elective office including a term in the Texas Legislature. He is married to Thelma MoT and they have five children, with Deep Geo community ties noted.

In Miami the state outlines a premeditated scheme allegedly involving Candace Messler and her nephew Melvin Powers to murder her wealthy husband Jacques Messier. Prosecutors say Messler introduced Powers as her husband and that the couple planned the killing years before the June 1964 stabbing. Messler sat stony faced as details surfaced at the opening of the trial.
