A humorous RCA style narrative recalls a pasture scene near Ravenny with a calf and cow as Aggie fans rally around the slogan 1967 The Year of the Horn. The piece wonders if the Bears will roar after a long drought as sports fans joke about timely victories.
Football fans look to Monday night with four bowl games Saturday two pro games Sunday and the Orange Sugar Cotton and Rose bowls closing the collegiate season. Later the New Year’s Eve sing at Monkstown starts 7 30 p m and lasts into 1968. A note recalls blackeyed peas for dinner on New Year’s Day as a tradition.
Four suspects including two men and two women were arrested in McKinney after east side merchants recovered funds from merchandise bought with bad checks drawn on Bonham Bank. Sheriff Dudley Jackson and Deputy Bobby Madison along with City Officer Kenneth Rice coordinated the return and recovery of payments.
J E Hutch Leatherwood, longtime ex district clerk, is appointed to fill the unexpired term of Robert Dorough who resigns to join the postal service. Dorough's resignation takes effect midnight Dec 31 after two terms. Leatherwood previously served in the 1940s and currently runs a hardware business.
At LBJ Ranch in Texas the First Family gathers for a New Year holiday as Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson host relatives including Robb and daughter Luciang with guest Patrick Nugent. The event includes plans for visiting dignitaries such as Prime Minister Levi Eshkol and family activities with grandson Patrick Lyndon.
A cold front did not advance as expected into the Bonham area on Saturday and moved north. Bonham reported 34 degrees with sleet and light rain as conditions remained cloudy and a southeast wind shifted to the north. Cooler statewide readings persisted with Panhandle in the low 30s and light precipitation forecast for the weekend.
Bonham schools plan a scholastic census for the 1968-69 term on Wednesday and Thursday. Supt. Joe Campbell says 2 pm dismissals will allow teachers to contact parents of children aged 6 to 17 years 11 months before Sept 1, 1908. He asks parents to have birth data ready and note any handicaps to aid programs. If weather disrupts, census will resume at the first opportunity.
Gen Creighton W. Abrams, deputy U.S. commander in Vietnam, told UPI the idea of pursuing Communist troops into neutral Cambodia is not realistic given limited supply lines. He cited the DMZ and border areas near Loc Ninh and Bu Dop as likely enemy targets next year.
In New York a federal jury found Charles Pfizer Co Bristol Myers Squibb and American Cyanamid guilty on one count each of conspiracy to monopolize, conspiracy to restrain trade and actual monopoly in the antibiotics market. The verdicts total potential penalties amounting to 1.7 billion dollars.
Cambodia confirmed it would permit American forces to pursue Communist troops into Cambodia if Viet Cong or North Vietnamese units violate its neutrality. Officials stress the move is not an invitation to full invasion and warn against deep strikes into populated areas.
UPI reports U S officials saw Sihanouk's remarks as a potential opening to ease sanctuaries for Communists in Cambodia. Rusk met Johnson at the LBJ Ranch to discuss Sihanouk's offer and yearend budget matters. Sihanouk hinted at limited hot pursuit into Cambodia if conflicts stay in remote border zones.
New York Rangers star Don Marshall will miss Saturday and Sunday games against the Chicago Black Hawks and Toronto Maple Leafs due to a badly bruised left ankle. He sustained the injury when struck by a puck in Wednesday’s 3 3 tie with the Minnesota North Stars.
The first baby born in Fannin county after midnight Sunday will be named Little Miss or Mr. 1968 and receive gifts from Bonham merchants. Eighteen prizes include certificates from Cra dig seat McKnight Rexall Drug and J. B. White Co and items from Faith's Jewelry Saunders Bank store Hunt's Department Store and others. Parents must supply birth time sex weight name and residence in Fannin county with a physician's statement to The Daily Favorite.
All Fannin County schools resume on Tuesday with a full day of classes. Students and teachers returned from a prolonged Christmas holiday and will follow the usual morning start and afternoon dismissal times.

Jan 31 deadline emphasis and registration drives target groups including Negro, Latin American and labor communities.
