Mrs Hazel Luttrell has bought a Christmas tree for 1970 and wrapped it to last all year. The New Year’s Eve Gospel Sing at Monkstown Community Center starts 8 p.m. Wednesday and runs into the new year, inviting all singers and listeners.
In Malmesbury England a frightened kitten trapped inside a church organ joined in with a choir causing upset in the young singers who began to cry. The animal was rescued when a panel of the organ was kicked out to free it.
Rosalie Jayson, 58, was jailed after smashing 125 bank windows in Edgware. A judge ordered confinement after noting she had earlier written two bad checks ten years ago.

Ross Perot, the Dallas financier, abandons sending Christmas gifts to American prisoners in Hanoi and seeks to land a charter jet in Moscow to feed a regular North Vietnam mail pipeline. United Press International reports Israeli commandos with air support struck an Egyptian outpost in Ras Ghaib area south of the Suez Canal. Lance Corporal Stephen G. Conner USMC son of Mrs Irma Harris and Gordon Updike of Bonham died December 11 1969 from wounds suffered in Vietnam. He was on a search and clear mission in Quang Nam Province when hit by a hostile explosive device. Funeral held at Kreidler Ashcroft Chapel Hattingen with burial Mount Meta Memorial Park North of San Benito. Survived by father mother two brothers grandparents foster parents and a foster sister and brother. Mrs Harris attended Harlingen funeral services last weekend.
In Da Nang speech to Vietnamese officers, Vice President Nguyen Cao Ky says U S strategy was wrong to pour in large troop contingents. He urged building up the South Vietnamese army with weapons and money, and cites agreement by officials including Defense Secretary Laird.
Saturday officers reported a man named Sam Davis was shot and slightly wounded in an Friday afternoon argument. Assistant Chief Jay Duckworth identified the wounded man and noted no charges have been filed.
