A 1901 effort formed a Bonham cotton mill managed by John C Saunders, later sold to Consolidated Textile Co, then bought by Dallas and Benham businessmen. Herbert A Burow became manager after Saunders’s death, and the mill grew to be one of the largest west of the Mississippi, serving a loyal trades community. James H Lowry, Honey Grove Signal editor, was a noted local figure and longtime CILA board member.
Classified land ads describe several small farms near Honey Grove, Bonham, and Dodd City with prices per acre, balances due, and cash down, plus insurance offerings. A nostalgic column recounts local paper history, the Carlton family, and community figures, ending with a Christmas notice from First Baptist Church and a local monument ad.
