Louie and Emogene Rhodes of Bonham own a service station and gained a holiday surprise when a platter of glazed fruit arrived from California. The fruit was sent after a woman misplaced her purse in Bonham last summer and items inside, including credit cards, were mailed to Rhodes. The note wished the family a merry Christmas and a happy new year, marking their first word from the travelers since the purse mailing.

Burglars Hit Two Post Offices Friday Night
Burglars entered the Gober and Bailey post offices Friday night, Sheriff Dudley Jackson reported. The Gober break in yielded $2940 in cash, nine blank money orders, and a purse belonging to Mrs Clarence Nelson. The Bailey office saw the front door pried open with a row bar, with papers scattered as the safe was moved. U S Postal inspectors were notified of both burglaries.
