County Officials Approve Pay Hikes and Budgets In Fannin County
The Fannin County Commissioners Court approved pay raises of 15 percent for low earners under 800 a month and 10 percent for all others. Sheriff, county clerk, treasurer, and other officials saw salary increases, with road hands and courthouse staff also affected. Armed Robber Halts Car Near Star and First
At 6 41 a m Tuesday an armed man flagged down George McDonald’s car near Star and First Streets and pressed a pistol to his face taking 150 dollars from the billfold before fleeing on foot toward the Cotton Mill. Police chief Jerry Leverett led the inquiry with Detective Randy Steward and state troopers assisting from the Texas Highway Department and Fannin County sheriff's deputies.

A tombstone and a cemetery burial vault were erected in front of Bonham High School at about 3 45 a.m. Sunday as a prank. The tombstone bore an unnamed school official's name. The vault came from Willow Wild Cemetery and the tombstone from Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home, per Detective Randy Steward.
