Winter Vegetable Production Forecast for Texas 1958

The U S Department of Agriculture projects Texas winter vegetable production will rise about 10 percent in 1958 from 1957 but remain 5 percent below the long term average. The forecast, based on Dec 1 conditions, notes December supplies may be tighter than expected while the harvest period should extend longer than last year.

All-State Band Tryouts For Bonham Group In Mt Vernon

Fifteen Bonham band members and director James A Taylor traveled to Mt Vernon for Region 1 band contests and tryouts. About 400 students from 27 schools attend. roughly 90 advance to all region band and first chair players form the all state band to perform in Dallas in February.

Tito Said Seeking Closer Relations

Army blood drives for Erler children in Dallas

Twenty six pints of blood were donated to Vicki and Vaughn Erler in the Wadley Blood bank Dallas Friday morning. Army volunteers from the Dallas recruiting area led by Maj Adams Collinge and aided by SFC Edwin Russell and BFC Herbert Thornhill organized the drive. Thirty five offered, twenty six accepted, with TV pictures on WFAA tonight at 6 and 10 p.m.

Twin kidney transplant cited as successful in Richmond

Bill Merriman of Shawnee Oklahoma received a kidney from his twin brother Sam in a rare transplant at the Medical College of Virginia. Surgeons described the operation as successful with Bill in fair condition and the transplanted kidney functioning well after two operating rooms were used. Sam remained in fine condition as doctors noted post operative improvement and monitored blood pressure.

Gifts Mailed From VA Members in Annual Gift Shop

About 900 gifts in 420 packages were mailed by VA Center members and patients through the American Legion Auxiliary Christmas Gift Shop. Rural Electrification Loan to Fannin KEA Approved

A $195 000 loan from the Rural Electrification Administration was approved for the Pan nin County Electric Cooperative to build and expand distribution lines from Rotor to Blue Ridge and improve the system. The KEA serves families in Fannin Collin Grayson and Hunt counties and details came via a Senate telegram and Sam Morgan manager of the KEA.
