City moves to acquire title to 21.9 acres of surplus VA land

Bonham voters and officials take steps to obtain title to land north of the Bonham VA Center declared surplus by the Veterans Administration. Tax Collections Up Over Prior Year In First Two Months

City tax officer Miss Bertha Maddrey reports October and November duties show total collections of 27,250.85 this year versus 23,720.36 last year for the same months. November receipts reached 10,557.84 compared with 6,820 last year, while October was 16,693.01 versus 17,712.16. Current taxes and penalties formed part of the November total with other taxes including poll taxes and delinquent interest.

Theft Complaint Filed Against Trenton Resident

A theft over fifty dollars complaint is filed against Joe Barnes of Trenton over the loss of a billfold belonging to John Nolan, a Trenton service station operator. Nolan reported the missing billfold to Sheriff Hoyt Ivey, Barnes was taken into custody, and he led officers to buried money from the billfold on the old Cotton Belt right of way. Nolan said he missed the billfold after working on Barnes's car. Bond for Barnes was set at fifteen hundred dollars.
