Ray Seay colored former principal of Washington colored school in Bonham drowned seining in Sycamore Creek near Honey Grove after noon Thursday. He could not swim and sank in a deep hole. three boys tried to help, a white boy fetched aid, and the body was recovered. Funeral at Cain Chapel AME Bonham, burial Gates cemetery. He was the eldest son of Sam and Willie Seay and survived by wife, mother, three sisters and two brothers.

Second Bolt Of Lightning Fatal To Local Undertaker
John A. Maxwell 62 an undertaker and bank official was killed by lightning on the tenth hole of the Raritan Valley Country Club in Somerville New Jersey as a thunderstorm moved in. He had been knocked down here 25 years ago with two friends, Louis Miller and Joseph Clark, near the same spot. Maxwell died at Somerset Hospital. The incident followed a similar strike at the course on Aug. 6, 25 years earlier.

Football Practice Opens Wednesday Aug 24 Says Coach
The 1938 football training for Bondi Warriors will open Wednesday, August 24, Coach May said. Pittrick and L. B. Morris assist. Equipment at 10 a.m. and first workout in the afternoon. Denison publicist W E Biggs announced preparations for North Texas first open air singing convention in Greenville on August 17 at 8 pm Seats for 5000 will be on the south side of the courthouse with auditorium and gymnasium available if rain. The choir is expected to total 250 voices and the event is backed by Greenville merchants and the Greenville quartet led by Jack Honer Melvin Webb Mark Webb and J B Terry.
