Thousands lined Bonham streets for the 1969 Christmas parade sponsored by Downers Horizon club. Despite cold winds, spectators praised the event with bands, floats, bicycle riders and Santa Claus. Top float honors went to Windom 4-H club with Smart Shop, second to Songetoho Camp Fire Girls, third to Gober 4-H club. prizes ranged from 40 to 15 dollars.

Two Men Held as Burglary Suspects in Honey Grove

Viet Cong Ambush Fails to Halt Delta Operations West of Saigon

Viet Cong attacked a U.S. Navy patrol boat convoy and shelled a government outpost as South Vietnamese and American forces push to assume duties west and south of Saigon. In the day’s fiercest clash government troops killed 17 Viet Cong 103 miles west of Saigon. three South Vietnamese were killed and 32 wounded with four American advisers hurt.

Viet Cong Declares Three Day Christmas Truce

The Viet Cong announced a three day cease fire at Christmas and New Year to show concern for compatriots and the American people. The plan followed President Thieu's 24 hour truces for humanitarian reasons and was broadcast from Saigon via clandestine radio. The Viet Cong cited humanitarian policies and condemned Saigon and Washington for stalling at the Paris peace talks.

Burglary at Dodd City Home Sees Guns and Dresses Stolen

County officers investigated a break in at Mrs Betty Perkins residence two miles east of Dodd City on U S 82. Medina Denies Massacre At Song My Meeting

Capt. Ernest L. Medina standing with F. Lee Bailey told reporters at a Pentagon briefing he did not shoot or order a massacre at My Lai and did not see civilians shot. He acknowledged seeing bodies but said about 20 civilians were deceased in the Song My hamlet during the March 16 1968 incident.

Two-Vehicle Collision On North Center Damages Estimated
