Boynton Nominated by Republicans for Governor
At the Texas Republican convention in Houston Alexander Boynton of San Antonio was named the gubernatorial candidate. The platform urged county relief, lower government expenses, less business regulation, abolition of the poll tax, a luxury tax, reform of primary laws, and abolition of liquor and Old Age Pension boards. Keynoter M. L. McCarquordale urged cross party unity to combat the New Deal. About 280,000 American troops were in the Spanish American War.

Eyes of 81 Year Old Woman Spark New Sight for Two Men
In San Francisco on August 10 Eyes from Mrs Margaret Carr 80 earlier died were transplanted to Rev A E Harding of Portland Oregon and to Arthur Morton of Sacramento. The surgeon said Harding could see colors and count fingers and Morton could see though blurred. The doctor noted the donor was 80 yet the corneas gave partial sight to two recipients and full vision may follow with time. The patients stay in hospital another week.

Terrell to Visit Bonham Friday for Campaign Stop
C V Terrell, chair of the railroad commission and re election candidate, will arrive in Bonham Friday morning for a campaign gathering. Mr Howard Dobbs, long time Bonham Bailey Inglish School teacher, will be assistant coach and teacher at White Oak near Longview. Mrs Dobbs, a Bonham public school music teacher, resigns to join him in East Texas. Ida Lee Rainey, former Atlanta teacher and TSCW graduate, will teach in Longview schools next year. Dobbs attends summer term at Denton Teachers College.

MISS INEZ SHARPE WEDS AMOS CARTER IN DURANT CEREMONY
Miss Inez Sharpe of Honey Grove and Amos Carter, a farmer south of town, surprised friends by announcing their August 6, 1938 marriage in Durant. Rev Woodard officiated, with the couple accompanied by the couple's uncle and aunt Dr and Mrs Maenes. The bride, daughter of J E Sharpe, worked in Dr Magness's office. the groom is youngest son of Mrs Miriam Carter.
