Seventy Fannin county farmers were elected to direct the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation program in 12 communities for 1956. Thirty six serve as committee members and twenty four as alternates. The top vote getter in each area becomes chairman, the second becomes vice chairman, and the third member. However counting was slow as ballots were divided into 12 groups for tallying. The list includes names and routes for Bonham Ladonia Gober Honey Grove and other communities with both committeemen and alternates named.

Dairy Committee Plans Farm Tour Of Six County Boys
Bob Barrow chairman of the chamber dairy committee says the group will visit six more Rural Youth Dairy Heifer program participants Friday afternoon. Last Friday the committee inspected four calves in the county and tomorrow they move to the east and southeast sections. The program began with 12 heifers with two dividends and another ready to place. Other committee members include Horace Duncan EOP Melver Ray Manning and Claude Hodge. Anyone else interested may join the tour leaving the Chamber office at 12 30 p m and returning by 5 p m.

Child Found Cold but Unharmed After Night in Woods
Two year old Gail Taylor wandered from home in Cassville Missouri and survived fifteen hours outdoors in Ozark hills. He was found by Mrs Bessie Edwards and her son Joe near a strawberry patch and taken to Casville Community hospital where doctors described him as cold but unharmed. Two puppies that had accompanied him were missing.

Work Started On Widening 26 Miles of Farm Roads
Cage Brothers of San Antonio begin rebuilding about 26 miles of farm to market roads in Fannin and Hunt counties under a Texas Highway Department contract. Roads from Cotton Center to Gober via State Highway 78, Leonard to Celeste, and Wolfe City to Hickory Creek are widened with new base and ferrous surfacing. Shoulders are cut away, crushed rock filled for a wider base, no new right of way needed, traffic warned to proceed carefully.
