United Press reports national registration set for August 24 for men turning twenty one since June 5 as a prelude to possible Man Power bill delays. General Crowder orders state HQs to organize the August 24 event with a September first registration for ages eighteen to forty five if the bill passes.
Paul Jackson offers 35 3 5 acres half a mile north of Gober and half a mile from Pike. Includes a 5 room house in a choice location with good improvements. Price 165 dollars per acre.
United Press from Washington reports casualities for the day totaling 101. The breakdown lists 69 killed in action, 21 died of wounds, 10 died of disease, and 1 from an accident.

After the battle of the Avre the French Army under Marshal Foch reverses the war's momentum. Generals' tactics wrest Germans from a costly deadlock, with estimates of German losses ranging from 700,000 to 1,000,000. The pocket at Chateau-Thierry is cleared, Amiens is no longer threatened, and key Paris rail lines to Chalons and to Amiens are freed, improving allied mobility.

Paris August 14 Assistant Secretary of the Navy Roosevelt says Italian and American navies will cooperate in Adriatic and Mediterranean operations. The mission aims to use Italian ports to increase American aid to Italy. Misses Winnie Biggerstaff and Gertie Barrett visited Randolph this afternoon.
