Birthday Gift Leads to Tragic Highway Death in Honey Grove
A 12 year old Honey Grove girl Janice Lee Sherwood died in a head on collision while riding a birthday gift motorcycle on Farm to Market 10. The crash also involved a 1976 Chevrolet truck driven by Mark Scott Milford. The accident occurred near 2 05 pm 84 miles north of Honey Grove. Sheriff’s records show she was a sixth grade student at Honey Grove and the daughter of Rudolph and Margaret Sherwood. Burial planned at Oakwood Cemetery with services at McKenzie United Methodist Church in Honey Grove.

County Attorney Returns $2200 Overpayment in 1976
County Attorney John Morris repaid $2,200 he was inadvertently overpaid by Bonham area officials in 1976. Auditor Bud Miller, who earlier acknowledged an honest mistake, turned the funds to Treasurer Florence Keahey for deposit. Morris explained the error arose from a salary miscalculation while advancing from assistant county attorney to county attorney.

Blaze Kills Four In One Story House Fire
Four people died in a Beaumont Texas house fire caused by an overturned kerosene lamp. Judy Ann Pinkney 33 and her children Stephanie Citi zen 15 Schenquin Pinkney 8 and T Hubert Pinkney 9 perished. Seven fire units responded and kept the blaze under control in about 15 minutes. The woman and children were found inside the home.
