A local ad lists a wide daily assortment for sale including bread butter syrup potatoes tomatoes beans milk vegetables salad dressing hot sauce baking powder vinegar grape juice breakfast foods soup rice cakes pickles fruit jelly preserves sugar cola and more.
Mrs H E Clark and sister from Dallas were in Bonham on business. Mrs Guy Vaughn was moved to Allen Memorial Hospital for treatment. Mrs Hattie Johnson at Allen Memorial Hospital is slowly improving. Mr and Mrs J L O McClure repaint their North Cedar Street home. Mr and Mrs J O Tate move into their North Cedar home with two children. Mrs B C Bule of Gober, previously ill at the fecal hospital, shows improvement. Mrs Frank Horton and daughter Dorothy left for Greenville to visit Mr and Mrs J A Bearborough for the weekend. Mrs Harris Myers, recently operated on, returned home to West Tenth Street. Jon Denton left in a Wise ambulance with W Cecil for treatment in Marshall at the T P hospital. Bonham friends note Jane Shortridge, formerly in Dallas hospital, is home and improved. JoL Mendé underwent emergency appendectomy in a Denton hospital and rests nicely. his father Bam Mendé returned home from Denton. Rev and Mrs W O Harmon returned from Iola Kansas after visiting Mrs Harmon's parents. Brother Harmon improved and is up, leaving two daughters with relatives.

In Austin on April 14 the state executive committee of the University of Texas Interscholastic League suspended Temple High School teams for one year. Football for 1939 and basketball for 1940 were penalized for recruiting and unauthorized control amid a Holland High School filing. The football team had placed as runner up in Benson’s competition.
Bonham City Council awarded six dollars in cash prizes for a fire prevention poster contest among Duncan and Batley Inglish School pupils. First prize went to Edward Williamson of Duncan. second to Dewey McKelva, Ro Tarver, and James Cullum. third to Robert German of Batley Inglish.
Information reaches Benham of the death of Miss Gwendolyn Mooring of Austin formerly of Ladonia Texas She visited Bunham often and had many friends here She attended Ladonia schools and graduated from the Ladonia Weh School She earned a BA from Texas State College for Women in Denton For months she had been an assistant librarian in Austin public schools She is survived by her mother Mrs Wilmina Mooring and a brother Frank Mooring who died last August in Lake Penton Her grave will be in Ladonia Cemetery.

Mrs Matty Ben Fubanks aged 83 died this morning at her Ivanhoe home. Born August 28 1853 near Ivanhoe she lived there all her life. Funeral at Ivanhoe Baptist Church with Rev Jo Fender officiating. Survivors include sons A BCR JIT BBL BL Oscar Fuhanks Odhorne of Foreman Ark daughters Ott Trammel Jewel Ridings. sisters Mrs Dora Warne Mrs Minnie Alrdich and Mrs Chane Watt. Pallbearers named Weldon Eubanks Cleburne Eubanks Charlie Eubanks Lester Eubanks Truett Eubanks Eli Trie Eubanks and grandchildren. United Press report from Shenai China describes Mao Tse-tung dwelling six miles from Yenan in a two room cave used as office and home. Charlies F Hotchkins died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in San Antonio after months of illness. His wife, formerly Miss Iane Ragsdale of Bonham, is well known here. The body will arrive in Bonham Sunday morning on the 11 45 train and be taken to Wise Funeral Chapel for services at 3 PM conducted by Harry Lee Virden. Interment will be in Willow Wild Cemetery.
