Food prices show wide fluctuation in week to April 6
Washington reports wholesale price fluctuations for food and feedstuffs with higher activity than in the prior three months. Native beef steers rose to 13.75 dollars, lambs to 18.60 dollars, and hogs to 30 cents per 100 pounds. dairy products, potatoes and hay fell. Fresh butter declined two cents, storage butter dropped to 38 cents, eggs and cheese edged down slightly. New York potatoes dropped three cents per hundred pounds and Chicago potatoes fell ten cents.

Two German Planes Shot Down by U S Flyers
With the American Army in France April 14 two German fighting planes were shot down inside the American lines by Lieut A S Winslow of Chicago and Douglas Campbell of California. Each man downed one machine. both enemy aviators were made prisoners. One German was slightly wounded. The planes formed part of a five aircraft patrol and fell after a six minute engagement. One enemy machine burned, the other was only slightly damaged. Campbell is said to be the first graduate of a strictly American school to bring down an enemy plane.

One Man Killed as Night Storm Strikes Fort Worth
Fort Worth April 15 Clarence King sixteen died from injuries when his father's home near Roanoke was wrecked by a cyclone that swept the western edge of Tarrant and Denton counties last night. Many others were injured crops damaged. Hassell Caldwell sent a casket to Mrs Dave Wells who died at her home near there at 10 this morning. Mrs Wells forty three was born near the place she died and was a daughter of Mr and Mrs Whisenhunt funeral at New Hope cemetery this afternoon.
