Parents Seek 3.5 Million in Son's Death at Marine Corps
The parents of Pvt Lynn McClure filed a 3.5 million claim against the Marine Corps after his skull was caved in by a beating during recruit training. A federal judge denied a request to block witnesses from being transferred and to permit defense questioning, citing lack of jurisdiction unless the claim is rejected or action is not taken within six months. McClure, 20, from Lutkin Texas, died after three months in a Houston VA hospital. The service said injuries occurred in a bout with padded pole pugil sticks used in bayonet training.
