Voters chose McClure Newton as mayor with 35 466 votes. Aldermen elected were at large: Saunder Coppedge Clutter Newton Mitchell. Ward No 1: Pratt Hassell Darling Etter Roberts Dorough Crouch Lowrey Spivy. The paper notes strong citizen support and urges unity to back the new administration.
Thomas Nolan a Confederate veteran from Houton Texas fell from the AMENAPHIS and Ponce de Leon trains near Tampa on the way to the reunion and was killed. The body was found on the railroad track by section hands this morning according to a message from Defuniak.
