Ector county voters re elected three trustees Saturday without opposition. The winners were W. F. Lambert Weldon Burkhalter and E. E. Hill Jr with 23 votes cast in the election.
Mrs Buster Grimes 33 wife of a police dispatcher hid with her two children in a bedroom as a tornado struck the Sunset Terrace housing area in Wichita Falls. The house was destroyed but the bedroom remained intact and all three survived.

An 18 by 24 inch oil painting depicting the Roane County Tennessee log cabin birthplace of the late Speaker Sam Rayburn was donated to the Sam Rayburn Library. The work by Etta Mae Humphreys was created from a faded photo of the cabin now gone. The painting took about 40 hours and underscores the cabin’s historical detail now only represented by foundation remains. The artist recently presented three works to President Lyndon Johnson in Washington.
County Clerk G L Holman announced that absentee voting runs April 13 to 28. Eligible voters away from the county or confined by illness or disability may vote in person or by mail after requesting an absentee ballot, returned by mail only and certified by a notary, with physician affidavit required if mailed due to illness or disability.
