Springfield April 1 The Illinois Legislature passed a 3 cent gasoline tax with little opposition. Former Gov Len Small backed a 2 cent tax two years ago, which was later struck down as unconstitutional after proceeds accrued. Gov Louis Emmerson supported the new tax and it was quickly approved and signed into law.
Mr and Mrs Walter Carr and three children were injured in an automobile wreck near College Station Sunday. The car was crowded off the highway and turned over several times. Mr Carr was unconscious and son Raymond was injured internally. All were cut and bruised.

Ray's Roller Rink plans relocation from its current site to Grove for a session lasting several weeks. Founder Blankenship will supervise the move, a large effort that involves tearing down the tent and reassembling the rink at Honey Grove.

Jerra I. Hickson, 69, long time postmaster of Gainesville, Texas, died Sunday after weeks of illness. A native of Waterford Michigan he moved to Texas in 1877 and worked as a teacher near Honey Grove, then as a bookkeeper in Gainerville. He served as postmaster from 1901 except during Woodrow Wilson’s administration.
