Sharp frost and fog greet the morning as social events and community updates fill the Bombala area. church services, marriages, school changes, local accidents, court actions, railway inspections, and a busy schedule of dances and meetings reflect a town in active civic life.
Bombala Hospital Carnival Committee and workers battled cold winds, damp ground, and a late Easter schedule which cut attendance. Despite setbacks, the ball drew a large turnout, with Wallaga leaf band and Dana's merry go round aiding spirits. Ball takings neared £90, and prizes included a cut bullock won by N Hile of Mt Darragh. Sports events followed with numerous heats listed and a district schools championship. The day reflected ongoing woes from prior carnivals and lingering chilly, showery weather.
Mr E Gordon Shaw, president of the Union and Wara tah team manager, presented a Shield for competition by affiliated 8.M.R.F. Union branches. Draws held May 10 produced matchups such as Bombala vs Delegate at Delegate and Cathcart vs Bibbenluke at Cathcart. A pre season pipe-opener saw Bombala beat Bibbenlake 15 to 6. Selected players include backs Dent Manning Chirnside Coates Elliott Smith Lomas and forwards Hawkins Elton Presley W Greer R Smith 8 Manning Paxton Kimber Comben.

A large black snake vanished into a hole by Mr A Fox’s Bellinger River farm. English boy trapped a live mouse on a fishing line, baited the hole, and pulled the line. The snake emerged, a blow killed it, and the mouse remained embedded on the hook in its jaw.
