The Bombala district hosts its 58th annual exhibition with a busy programme across sheep cattle horse shows and judging. Attendance tops 500 at the show ball. entries reach about 1500 across classes with notable results in sheep and cattle sections and a strong social and economic boost for local businesses.
The entry list shows Mr Frank Collins as a guide and stewards Messrs A B Nicholson and N South. Horses include a blood mare with foal, a deaught mare, gallop galloway stallions and mares, pony mare Jim Buckley, active farm horse, spring cart horse and single harness horse. Notable names include R Stevenson, B Stevenson, O H Pierce, G Ingram, Sep Ingram, and Miss J Sautelle.
Bombala reports a well attended euchre party and dance raising expectations for a balance. Prizes were won by Mrs T Atking and Mr Daw son Cotterill with Miss Killian and Mrs Craig among attendees. The district mourns James H Haggar who died after illness at 87, with a Saturday funeral in the C of E cemetery led by Rev S Broadfoot. he was a longtime local resident and friendly figure.
Laurence Toms a noted axe man in Cobargo attracted attention as he and his bride exited the church with friends forming an arch of axes over their path. The unusual display drew local interest and comments from onlookers.
