JBKRE will skip a week ending 2 January 1937 and resume on 24 December with no issue until 8 January printing. A Sydney paper recently noted the death of Henry James Hardaker at 77 in Randwick on 6 December. he lived in Bombala for years and left five children including C Hardaker of Times staff and Ben Hardaker of Bagara. The Municipal Council balance sheet, prepared early in the year, has not been published and may signal a merger into the Shire. Public criticism followed over Mayee Street dust from repairs interrupted by rain. A garden fete and bridge party at Dr Macarthur’s residence raised about £26 for the Auxiliary, with prize winners Mrs Atkina, Mise Jones, and Miss Fierce.
A series of official visits and talks are planned with delegates at the Delegate Hotel. Activities include sessions Monday January 4th through Tuesday January 6th, with travel from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and further events on Wednesday January 7th.
The auto-gyro flying machine piloted by Mr. Mendham, after detouring from Nimmitobel to Bega, weathered a fierce storm near Bam boka and landed in a paddock at Girrahween in Bombala at 3.30 pm. Mr. Summerill aided him, refueled, then they proceeded to Ontheart while a tire puncture delayed departure.
Samuel J. Allen, a longtime Bibbenlake resident born in Wolumla, died Friday in Bombala Hospital after a year of illness. He leaves a wife Elisabeth Wilson Allen and a large family of seven sons and five daughters. The Rev A J Barrett conducted a service at Bibbenlake Presbyterian Church and interment followed in Bibbenlake cemetery. He Farmed and dairyed in Wolumla Back Creek and Ebbeniaks areas, married in Bega, and celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in March.

The Rifle Club conducted its sixth monthly prize shoot on Saturday with 10 competitors. Ranges at 300 and 600 yards produced fast conditions. The Walk Handicap winner was Cook, with Platts earning top overall finish, while scores featured mixed figures across entries.
Rough weather cancels last Sunday's race as Bibbenluke riders travel to Bombala. Next Sunday's ten mile event will be at Bibbenlake with new riders expected. The year ends with the second Sunday in the new year slated for the following race.
