An elopement case in which Truebenbach and Jack Hines, father of the groom, report a dismissal after the girl’s mother aided the couple. Truebenbach says the girl is 18 as claimed. authorities note the girl appeared young. The couple plan to return to Fort Wayne and wed there with family support.
Shriff Johnston executed bench warrants against Al Fox Paul Ersham William Wysong and Forrest Faylor charging them with selling liquor to a minor after Frank Zoll testified he was 19 and bought liquor from them The saloon men deny wrongdoing and plan to plead not guilty arguing Zoll claimed age 21 and may have signed affidavits to that effect.
Former Whitcomb High School principal F C Whitcomb reports a promotion to superintendent of manual training at Howard University in Washington. He will lead four instructors with authority to hire staff, starting salary 1900 dollars annually, with expected rapid raises. The school maintains high academic standards with wide national representation.
City Treasurer Fred Tangeman summarizes cash payments by property owners on new streets. Bennett Street shows 522.25 paid, 1779 outstanding, and 771.15 due from the city. Market Street from Scott to Bennett shows 1291.93 paid, 1902.77 outstanding, and 466.62 city obligation. Oak Street records 6045.95 paid, 796.48 outstanding, and 752.61 city share.

Yesterday evening at 7:30 Rev Guy McBride of Ashley united Dr W H Markley and Miss Mary McBride in a private Bluffton ceremony attended by immediate family and a few neighbors. The bride is Rev McBride’s sister and after the vows guests entered to see the ceremony and light refreshments were served. A wheelbarrow ride for the groom and a large group of friends celebrated afterward.
Pastor Barclay of the M P church in Liberty Center draws crowds with soul stirring sermons. Sixty to seventy souls are said to have been born again, with five more responding to an altar call Wednesday night as nine prayer meeting leaders keep the meetings active. Pastor Barclay, an Aggressive minister and Adrian College alumnus, preaches repentance regeneration and justification, while Pastor Wavelay reports conversions at Blanth Chapel as nineteen are filled with the spirit.
The Woman's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Church will meet at Mrs. JL Davenport's home on Thursday afternoon March 8 at 2 30. The president requests full attendance. Devotions led by Mrs. W W McBride. Current events cover Southern Mountaineers and letters from Mountain Grier ee tooass. Officers and social hour committee listed.

A Winchester message reports the death last night of Mrs. Chas Miller’s sister’s boy, seven, from membranous croup. Mrs. Geo L Saunders and her husband will travel in the morning to attend the funeral. the sister visited last summer in the city.
Hon. Levi Mock and his son Charles form a partnership to start a chicken duck and goose farm on a county property north of the city. They will initially use ponds for waterfowl, later build modern fowl houses, and raise chicks and goslings with Charles managing the business. Tick Mimmpkey has recovered and is able to be out.
Announcement reveals Dr J W Holcomb of Barbers Mill married Rosa Harnish after obtaining a license on February 20. The ceremony was performed in Muncie by Rev. Ranchel. The couple return to Barbers Mill to receive friends’ congratulations.
Wilnon I Mehkle died at noon today at about 34 years old living three and a half miles northwest of Bluffton leaving a wife and three children. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Carl McBride and Miss Nettle Rabbe obtain a license to marry and plan a home wedding this evening at the bride’s residence.
