Last Miami Chief James St Godfroy Dies in Fort Wayne Area
James St Godfroy, son of a Miami chief and longtime landowner near Ft. Wayne, died last Saturday. Born 1810 in Miami county, he had twelve children with his second wife Montesoqua. The 920 acre reserve has since been subdivided for descendants, about seventy two relatives remain. Funeral services were held at St Patrick's church in Ft. Wayne.

Thresher Burned on Messburg Farm in Liberty Township
Last Friday afternoon James M. Jones lost a threshing outfit on the Robert Henry Messburg farm near Liberty township. A heated straw stacker sparked the blaze, quickly destroying the stacker and separator and soon the thresher itself. Jones attempted to save the engine but the fire spread too fast costing about $2,010 and delaying the season by several days.

Welcome Home Bluffton Light Guards Return Reception
Bluffton Light Guards of the Fourth Regiment Indiana State Militia were welcomed home with a Washington Park reception organized by the Woman's Relief Corps. About two thousand citizens attended as the unit, escorted from the armory by a G A R band, enjoyed supper and a program of speeches and music. Mayor Walbert gave the address of welcome, with responses by J. J. Todd and others.
