Last Thursday Decatur hosted the Eleventh District Democratic convention with about 5000 attendees. A. N. Martin secured the nomination after speeches by county delegates and a Kern address highlighted the party’s platform and unity in the lead up to the district race.

Sale of Free Gravel Roads Draws Crowds and Bids
Last Wednesday's sale of Rinear Buckner Mounsey Keystone and Chester Center gravel roads attracted many contractors. Bids ranged from about 4 000 to 9 900 dollars per road as surveyor W A Kunkel provided specifications and John Gregg and W N Buckner secured sureties. James Crosbie won the Rinear contract with a 9 900 bond and Michael Dailey secured the Buckner contract with a 3 500 bond.
