At Sam Kunkel’s store in Tocsin Cap Blue, son of Rep M C Blue, was hit by a heavy lead charge discharged by a burglar trap. A customer’s late entry triggered the trap. the clerk may lose a leg. Local residents condemn the device as risky.
Washington reports President Cleveland entrusting Hawaii settlement to Congress as tariff talks surge. Democrats largely back the Wilson bill while opposition centers on amendments. Secretary Carlisle presses urgent funding to cover a 50 million deficit, with House and Senate committees seeking a non contentious path.
Report of Dis No 6 Lancaster Township for the month ending January 12 1894 shows 26 pupils enrolled and 22 average daily attendance. A Card from DitMan Indiana dated January 15 1894 thanks friends for support in the late primary and says the author accepts defeat with good humor and will remain in the Democratic ranks in November fighting for the ticket. R 8 McFappen.
