Washington reports President Cleveland will share a first draft of his coming message to Congress with the cabinet before finalization. The article notes reforms in pensions and finance, inspections of pension rolls, suspensions nearing 6,000 with potential 75,000 total under the 1890 act, and broad Democratic openness to debate. God in his wisdom has called from our membership Brother James P. Robert who departed this life July 27 1893. He proved a faithful follower to the principles to which our order stands pledged Freedom and Friendship.

Last Sunday evening the city churches united in a farewell service honoring Rev J E Weir who will leave for the pastorate at Fort Morgan Colorado. Present were pastors Leader Ulory Hicks Wade and others who spoke of the loss to the churches. Weir delivered a strong sermon on the power and fruits of the gospel.
The Rev Weir spoke on almost six years of pastorate and church growth from 167 to 500 members. The Ft. Wayne Presbytery declared the pulpit vacant until a successor is chosen, while well wishes were offered for Weir and his family.
