A Black individual confessed to a grave crime, but investigators later determined the victim’s body was that of a dog, revealing a grave mischaracterization and prompting a review of evidence and motives.
James Hines of Abingdon was believed killed in a mob fear case. Robert Moore, jailed in Abingdon, confessed to the murder near Freeling, later recanted claiming coercion. Will Smith reportedly aided Moore. a decapitated body was shown to be not human, and Moore is now confined in Lynchburg jail as an insane suspect.
City council wound up last administration with minor business and licensed grants. Bonds for F. M. Peters and W. P. Deltz were approved. Miss Fitzhugh Breckenridge daughter of Capt. G W Breckenridge of Wincastle married Leroy Armstrong son of Meylert M Armstrong Orange. New York May 25 Fifty strike breakers from Manhattan were brought to West Orange New Jersey by hat manufacturers agents. On arrival they were mobbed by about five hundred women sympathizers. Many people were bruised or slightly cut in the melee but no fatalities occurred. The carriages used to transport the strikebreakers were completely demolished.
A Lebanon Va jury awarded the Clinchield Coal Corporation ten thousand dollars in damages after a trial over a runaway car incident connected with Wheeler's administrator. The prior trial had rewarded four thousand to the plaintiff, with the case returning to the Supreme Court for retrial.

Pine Bluff Arkansas May 25 Lav re Davis a negro accused of attacking a sixteen year old white girl was taken from jail by a mob of about two hundred men in daylight. He was lynched on a telegraph pole in a main street. The rope broke as he was raised and his body fell to the ground before being rehung. Police inside the jail were overwhelmed and the jail broken with a sledge hammer.

Edward Mittendorf presents the expression medal while a well known Rinefield corporation will present the other. controversy centers on the debating contest Saturday night per Read the Daily Leader.
Roanoke Virginia May 25 Sunday dedicated to opening the Virginia railway passenger service between Roanoke and Albans. The event drew thousands along the route with crowds at stations as yellow coaches powered by a new engine rolled out. The line runs 198 miles to Deepwater with Chesapeake and Ohio handling most segments. from Deepwater to Albans O. K. engine crews operate.
