A daughter named Leesa June was born on September 12 at Blue field Sanitarium to Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Luturl Hill of Rt. 3 city. The newborn weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces.
Miss Barbara Virginia Smith daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice E Smith Bluefield Va announces her September 27 wedding to Ray Nash son of Mr. and Mrs George Nash also of Bluefield Va The ceremony will be at 6 pm at the Virginia Avenue Methodist Church with Rev Bernie Hampton officiating.
The East River Mountain Garden Club meets with Mrs. Paige Worridge on Bland Road and co host Mrs. James Perkins. The WCTU gathers in Hamilton Hall at 2 30 p m. The state convention will be in Clarksburg September 24 25. The First Baptist WMS meets at 7 30 p m for business and officer installation. The Pink Dogwood Garden Club meets at 2917 Maple Lane hosted by Mrs J T Grose with Mrs James Headley as co host.
Sandra Jo Boyd of Fairmont was named a princess in the Mountain State Forest Festival royal court in Elkins on October 1. The 21 year old Miss West Virginia 1958 is a West Virginia University student and active in Alpha Delta Phi and Kappa Phi sororities. She previously earned titles including Miss Fairmont Times in 1955 and Miss Fairmont, and was a top contender for Miss West Virginia in Charleston.
The Women of First and Westminster churches sponsor a Gospel of Luke Bible Study led by Dr. Thomas F. Clark of Davidson College. The event runs Sunday afternoon with a 4:30 p.m. registration, 5 p.m. start, supper at 6:45 p.m., and a 7:30 p.m. session ending at 8:30 p.m. Reservations required by September 25. Clark is a Davidson professor and former Westminster assistant pastor.

The Mercer County Council of Parents and Teachers will hold its first fall meeting Thursday September 25 at 1 30 p m at Cumberland Heights School Bluefield. Officers will be named, by laws voted, and a panel on the Better Schools Amendment discussed led by W R Cooke with a tax status talk from the county assessor and a voter participation emphasis. All local units are urged to send representatives and others interested in children's welfare.
