President Eisenhower raised interest rates on U S savings bonds by one half of one percent effective June 1 1957 for all series E and H bonds bought since last June 1 344 percent for those held to maturity 3 percent for bonds sold between Feb 1 1957 and May 31 1969 2 percent retroactive for bonds sold before Feb 1 1957 and the program allows a 10 year extension after next maturity while retaining existing extensions.
