Railroad Bridge To Carry Traffic Near Charleston
Charleston Sept 20 A railroad bridge will handle one way traffic on U S 119 after a bridge near Big Chimney collapsed yesterday. The New York Central Railroad agreed to place flooring on its Cooper's Creek span and may reopen in three to four days with flagmen directing traffic. The Road Commission plans a temporary bridge in about four weeks and dismantling of the old span began today. The 150 foot bridge collapsed under a coal truck carrying 17 tons. officials cite pins knocked from the structure as the cause.
