Mr and Mrs William C Neal of 110 Jefferson Street Bluefield VA welcomed a seven pound thirteen ounce daughter, Letha Eugenia, born September 13 at Bluefield Sanitarium. The newborn is named for her maternal and paternal grandparents. The Neals also have two other children, Sandra Jean and Jo Anne.
Miss Margaret Sublette presented a clever interpretation of the popular novel Party Line to the Blue Triangle club at the YWCA. Miss Evelyn Duncan introduced her in the president’s absence, and delegates were chosen to represent the group at the state Business and Professional girls convention in Bluefield October 4 to 6.

The Young Woman's Club under president Mrs John O Keeffe hosts a buffet dinner at Appalachian Hall to honor new members. The event is set for Tuesday evening at 6 50.
Judge F Morton Wagner of criminal court praised the virtual eradication of juvenile delinquency in Mercer County citing constant work and supervision by alert citizens. He announced plans for a juvenile committee representing each magisterial district, probation workers, and Ruth Cruise of Bluefield child welfare. J L Alexander from Bluefield to serve on the committee was lauded for his work with the county council of the state department of public assistance. The program with Charleston will fund $20,000 annually to train child welfare workers, with fourteen to be sent to school this year.
Welch West Virginia September 19 a class of about 35 McDowell county officers received diplomas after completing a two weeks course offered by the Federal Bureau of Identification and West Virginia state police. After diplomas the officers attended a firearms demonstration at the old gun club grounds on the Welch Coalwood road.
Miss Virginia Lee Anderson hosted a dinner party and misc shower for bride-elect Miss Anne Suppee at her Augusta street home Thursday. Four tables with crystal circlets held pink carnations and baby's breath, blue net, a two course meal served to sixteen guests. Milas Suppee, to wed Kenneth Kemmerer in October, received many gifts, including a signed rolling pin. Assisting were Mrs. Lee F. Anderson, Mrs. W. E. Meachum, and Mrs. Joe Rangeley.
Nightly vandalism complaints describe a group of boys slashing tires on cars and trucks along East Princeton avenue. Police note several similar incidents in recent days. victim Elmer Campbell of 2424 Princeton avenue provided the latest report.
City firemen were called to the Royal laundry yesterday about 2:30 in the afternoon to extinguish a smouldering pile of ashes placed near the exterior of the building. Fire Chief EB Moctuze said there was no damage.

Washington announces 02000 surplus machine tools will be staged for stockpile starting October 1 as a reserve against a national emergency. The action, approved by the War Production Board, leverages most of the remaining 126000 tools costing $600 million. Beginning next month the War Assets Administration will not offer sales without prior inspection and tagging.

The Colonial announces a new schedule starting Sunday with a top attraction running three days. A one day show will follow each Wednesday, then another top film from Thursday to Saturday. High Barbary opens with Van Johnson and June Allyson, praised as real entertainment, and Sarg Goes To College is slated for Wednesday.
