Contract Awarded for Moving Earth and Stone
The Norfolk and Western Rail road Company awarded Walton Construction Company a contract to remove about 27,000 cubic yards of earth and stone from two embankments near the railroad shops. Twenty thousand yards of stone will come from one embankment and 7,000 cubic yards of earth from the other. Material will be used to build a shoulder and scrapping at a section of the Radford division east of Bluefield. The embankments extend nearly to the Hardy street line. Officials say no immediate improvements or expansion of the Bluefield shops are planned.

Boy survives 15 foot fall near shop yards
