Will Appeal Boyle Is Handed 3 Life Sentences
MEDIA Pa AP W A Tony Boyle once counseled UMW presidents was sentenced to three consecutive life terms for ordering the 1969 assassination of union rival Joseph Jock Yablonski and his family in Clarksville Pa Boyle aged 73 proclaimed innocence before Delaware County Judge Francis J Catania Prosecutor Richard Sprague pressed for the severest penalty citing the entire family’s murder. Boyle’s lawyer Charles Peruto argued mercy due to illness and noted two guilty hirers have new identities. He plans to appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court within 30 days. Boyle is also serving a 3 year federal sentence for illegally using UMW funds in the 1968 Nixon presidential campaign which ends in 1976.
