Three moonshiners crash a raiding party near Lerone Mercer county line leading to a pitched battle. Deputy State Prohibition Agent Eli Watkins is hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds from the clash. Moonshiner Neeley is killed in the confrontation as other officers capture the scene near Indian Branch.
Thirteen former Chesapeake and Ohio railway employees face a federal hearing in Huntington West Virginia on a charge of violating an injunction by Judge George W McClintic. The injunction bars striking shopmen and clerks from blocking railroad property or intimidating workers.
