Lacie Kidwell of Beckley, an employee of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co, was electrocuted yesterday afternoon after contacting a 13 000 volt line at Raysal West Virginia. Fellow workers used artificial respiration and a resuscitator before he died at a Welch hospital. He is survived by his parents and two brothers.

Virginia Woman Dies In Head-On Collision
Mrs. William Abbitt Coleman of Appomattox was killed instantly when her car collided head-on with another vehicle on route 60 west of Richmond. Col Coleman, retired officer and World War veteran, was near death with severe head injuries at the Medical College of Virginia hospital. Two unidentified occupants of the other car were in serious condition. The Colemans, en route to Redfield, Abbitt ancestral home near Appomattox, had lived near Norfolk prior to moving five years ago.

Josiah P. Rowe Jr the mayor and editor publisher of the Free Lance Star was buried in Oak Hill cemetery. Call For Repeal Of Auto Excise Taxes In West Virginia
The West Virginia highway users conference passed a resolution urging repeal of all federal automotive excise taxes. Secretary Frances Farley said the measure will be sent to West Virginia’s congressmen and senators. He noted WV motorists pay an average $71 annually, ranking sixth in the nation. The report also cites a 1933 temporary gasoline tax of 1.5 cents per gallon that has not been removed. Fred J. Sievers urged highway law uniformity and a revision of the state highway code. An interim committee to study the issue may be appointed by the governor.

Navy Doctor Saves Life Of Fisherman
A U S destroyer sent a doctor to the fishing boat Edward J McKeever off Block Island to treat a badly injured crewman, John Parks. Lt Merrill Bender and Chief Hospital Corpsman Jefferson C Carden performed emergency surgery after a severed artery and tendons were found in the left wrist, with blood plasma from the destroyer used to aid survival. Park’s life was saved by first aid from shipmates and quick naval medical intervention.

A mechanics lien was granted on a $31 949 12 original claim for Lincoln Mercury garage construction at Stadium Drive and Cherry Street. The $50 000 counter claim by Tower Realty is being heard by a jury and the complainant’s evidence is not yet complete. The Tower Realty suit alleges faulty materials and workmanship.

Matt Justice, 55, a Panther mountaineer serving life as an habitual criminal, has filed an appeal in McDowell Circuit Court challenging his voluntary manslaughter conviction for the killing of Curtis Whitt during a Panther incident last November 6. His son Dennis Justice was later convicted of second degree murder for the other Whitt brother, Thomas.
