Cockerham Pleads Guilty To Murder Of Sizemore

In Mercer County Circuit Court Marcus Lee Cockerham 23 formerly of Maryland pleaded guilty to first degree murder in the February 19 1983 shooting of Earnest Duffy Sizemore 40 of Princeton. The hearing included strict security with 13 officers and a handcuff key found during a courtroom search.

Fire Fee Amendment Adopted by Bluefield Board

Bluefield board adopts a fire protection fee amendment at a Tuesday session. The measure sets a 6 cent per square foot charge with a four month term and caps increases at 50 percent of prior annual bills. A $10 former fee could rise to $15 under the new system. A first reading of another fire fee amendment was heard, removing a $100 flat fee for buildings four stories or more, with action slated after a second reading next Tuesday.

Long Chase Nets Arrest

A 20 year old Princeton man Robert Michael Hearn was arrested after a high speed 56 mile chase near the East River Mountain Tunnel on I 77. He faces attempted murder driving while intoxicated battery and destruction of Princeton city property and awaits extradition to Virginia. Police say he rammed a Virginia state police cruiser during the chase. Bond set at 4500 dollars.
