Gov. Jim Justice signed an executive order to unlock federal funds under the FCC Rural Digital Opportunity Fund. West Virginia could access up to 766 million dollars over 10 years to bring high speed internet to about 121000 households, tackling rural connectivity exposed by remote learning.
Seven new COVID-19 related deaths were confirmed in West Virginia on Thursday across Mercer Bland and Buchanan counties. A 95-year-old Mercer County woman was among the fatalities, bringing Mercer County deaths to 24. The 24th Mercer death was linked to Princeton Health Care.
