Bluefield Streetscape Project Gains Ground with Donated Machinery
Bluefield officials report progress on the Bland and Federal streets and Chicory Square streetscape project funded by a nearly 700000 Small Cities Block Grant. Coal operator Bill Skewes plans to donate matching mining machinery. The commission discussed Chicory Square leasing needs and future development, including a possible coal museum and new business moving into Bluefield’s Cumberland Industrial Park with initial seven jobs rising to around 200. Gov. Underwood praised efforts to attract good paying jobs.
