War Fire Dept. Hit By Early Morning Blaze
An early morning fire gutted the War Fire Department destroying four trucks and gear valued in the thousands of dollars. No injuries were reported. Fire Chief Jimmy Stutso said the department lost all turn-out gear and would rely on area departments to protect citizens as investigations by the state fire marshal are planned.

Foundation tops $1 million mark thanks to pledge
BLUEFIELD Virginia The Bluefield Area Foundation reached over one million dollars after a new pledge and endowment were announced at the annual dinner. Richard Ammar, president since 1993, said the foundation is officially over the $1 million mark. James W. McGlothlin founder CEO of United Company pledged to send contributions to both the foundation and Bluefield College. McGlothlin noted Bluefield as a great community and a good place to live.
