Inflation Jump Pushes CPI to 13-Year High in September

U S consumer prices rose 0.4 percent in September led by higher costs for new cars food gas and restaurant meals matching the 13 year high in the annual CPI gain of 5.4 percent from a year earlier. Core inflation rose 0.2 percent month over month and 4 percent year over year as supply bottlenecks and port delays propagate through the economy.
