Mountaineers fall to Maryland in rough showdown
WVU controlled most of the clock 35 17 to 24 43 but big Maryland plays decided the game. Coach Rich Rodriguez noted the tough loss and promised a regroup for next week. Phil Braxton left hurt in the first half after neck pains and was sent for X rays as a precaution. Rasheed Marshall threw the interception that opened the scoring. The Maryland burst produced eight plays for four touchdowns early, then a 11 play drive for their fifth score. Field clock at Mountaineer Field failed to start.
